Aletai Meteorite
It is one of the largest known iron meteorites with at least five main fragments weighing a total of 74 tonnes, the largest weighing 28 tonnes.
The first fragment was found in 1898 and was assumed to have been a single meteorite. After the discovery of other fragments, initially thought to have been separate, unconnected meteorites, it became clear that they were all most likely to have been part of a once larger, singular body.
Along the long axis of 430km (and presumably larger) the meteorite debris scattering field is the largest on the planet, believed to be due to its unique stone-skipping like trajectory.
