Cave Bear Hand Bone

Cave bear (Ursus spelaeus) hand bone from Romania 50,000 - 24,000 years old.

Fossils of this species are mostly found in caves. Experts believe they spent more time in caves than brown bears and, unlike brown bears, are thought to be almost entirely herbivorous.

They measured up to 6.6ft in length with an average weight for a male bear between 350 - 600kg.
