Fossil wood from the Chinle Formation,  Arizona, USA.
Beautiful naturally colourful wood from the late Triassic Epoch, 225 million years ago.
The colours come from a combination of trace minerals such as manganese, copper and chromium that seeped into the wood and replaced its organic material during the fossilisation process.
