47 million years old from the Green River Formation in Wyoming, USA.
 
Knightia belongs to the same family as herring and sardines and likely feed on algae, insects and, occasionally, smaller fish.
There were a small schooling fish and were preyed on by other, much larger fish who also inhabited the Green River Formation.
